The Wisconsin Rural Opportunities Foundation (WROF), Inc. is delighted to announce the 2026-2027 WROF, Inc. Premier Scholarship Awards Program! With gratitude to a generous gift from Rural Mutual Insurance, two additional scholarships will be made available for this year. The WROF, Inc. will present a total of seven $3,000 scholarships to rural Wisconsin high school seniors pursuing post-secondary education in Wisconsin with plans to return to rural Wisconsin upon graduation. The application will be available on this webpage from Monday, January 5, 2026, until 11:59 pm on Friday, March 6, 2026.

The award recipients will be selected by an ad-hoc committee of volunteers of the WROF, Inc.

Scholarship Requirements:

  • The high school senior has lived in rural Wisconsin for at least two years. WROF, Inc. defines “rural” as a non-metropolitan area with a population of 35,000 or fewer.
  • The high school senior is attending a public, private, or home school in Wisconsin.
  • The high school senior is pursuing post-secondary education in Wisconsin and plans on returning to rural Wisconsin upon graduation.
  • The high school senior will pursue a degree in a field that will support the economy and well-being of rural communities in Wisconsin. This includes fields in agriculture, healthcare, large animal veterinary care, environmental studies, and sustainable practices.
  • The high school senior has financial need.

The award will support post-secondary tuition and educational expenses in Wisconsin schools.

All recipients will be required to attend an awards luncheon with the WROF, Inc. Board of Directors on Monday, August 3, 2026 to receive your scholarship check. The location will be announced.

Application 

The application must be completed in one session. You will not have the chance to return to the application with edits.

Two letters of recommendation are MANDATORY at the time the application is submitted.

NOTE: It is the applicant’s responsibility to upload the letters of recommendation. Letters directly from your references will not be accepted. Please clarify this process with your references.

How to Apply Online:

  2. Fill out the information.
  3. Upload your two letters of recommendation along with your high school transcript.
  4. Hit submit!
  5. Only applications containing the application form, two letters of recommendation, and the high school transcript submitted by 11:59 pm on Friday, March 6, 2026 will be considered by the Scholarship Committee.
  6. The award recipients will be notified in May 2026.
